The Chairman of the Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA), Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu, on Friday, 24 July 2026, received the leadership of the Nigerian National Bureau of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme on a courtesy visit to the Association. The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Bureau, Dr. Lucas Durojaiye, who is also the Managing Director of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc.
Welcoming the delegation, Mrs. Nwachukwu expressed her appreciation for the visit, describing it as a reflection of the cordial and longstanding relationship between the NIA and the Nigerian Bureau of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme. She reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Bureau and supporting initiatives that promote the growth of the insurance industry and enhance regional cooperation.
Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Durojaiye noted that the visit went beyond a courtesy call, describing it as an affirmation of the importance attached to the institutional relationship between both organisations.
He reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to deepening the partnership with the NIA and expressed optimism about increased collaboration in advancing the interests of the insurance industry, particularly in the area of cross-border motor insurance and the effective implementation of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme.
The engagement provided an opportunity for both institutions to explore areas of mutual interest and reinforce their shared commitment to strengthening insurance cooperation across the ECOWAS sub-region. The visit ultimately underscores the resolve of the NIA and the Nigerian Bureau of the ECOWAS Brown Card Scheme to build stronger institutional ties, promote regional integration and contribute to a more efficient and responsive cross-border insurance framework that delivers greater value to policyholders and motorists across West Africa.
